I am thrilled with my Orbit Baby toddler car seat and want to put to rest some of the issues others have brought up. Our family has all the other Obit Baby products and with this final addition to the collection, I see all the usual thoughtfulness of design and attention to detail.
Our son is 14 months old, around 30" tall and 24 lbs and absolutely loves his new seat. We have installed it rear facing in the center seat (on the base) of our CRV. Though the seat is very tall, it allows for plenty of growth in the future and I can still see out the rear window just fine. Also, when installed on the base, our son gets a few extra inches of height and he loves to look out the window.
I also want to point out that the rear installation on the base makes use of the anti-rebound feature of the base which is RARELY found in any car seat on the market in the US, though very common in Europe. The base is braced against the rear seat-back and prevents the seat... Read more

We were so relieved that we were able to buy this product at last despite the lengthy delays prior to its release. It should be noted that once the seat becomes forward-facing, the famous "docking" car seat base, needed for the Orbit infant car seat, is not used at all. This went against my expectation of the Orbit system "growing with your baby". We had put off buying a forward-facing car seat, despite my child's discomfort with her legs significantly hanging over, as I had thought we would still use the base, so I feel a tad misled. This would have been less of an issue if the seat had been available towards the end of 2007 as was originally promoted.
Anyhow now that we have it in our car, our toddler enjoys being in her seat and the elevated position helps with her ability to see more out the window (which is helpful in keeping her entertained with the passing view and therefore less temper tantrum prone!)
It is well constructed as well as fairly easy to... Read more

I really really wanted to love the Orbit Toddler car seat, but it just sucks. I read all the reviews I could find and decided that I would risk the money and buy this over a Britax. I wish I hadn't and I will replace it as soon as my daughter is forward facing. I bought this item because I have truly loved all the other Orbit products and I thought that this rotating seat would be as wonderful as the infant seat. My problem is that the straps get twisted in the back of the car seat and I am unable to tightly secure and restrain my 12 month old daughter. I pull and pull on the strap, but it won't tighten. I have to turn the seat around, open the back compartment and fix it. This happens about 80% of the time. Its a huge waste of time and effort. I contacted Orbit and they gave me a bunch of things to try to make it work, but nothing has improved this problem. I'm so sad to write this review and even sadder to have spent all that money. UPDATE: I am now experiencing the problem... Read more

True Side Impact Protection for Advanced Security The Frontier 85 Combination Booster Seat is ideal for parents concerned with providing proper safety and posture-support for their children during car rides. Offering True Side Impact Protection, this seat delivers superior protection if you happen to face an unexpected side-impact accident.
If such an event takes place, the solid head support and deep side walls work efficiently to distribute forces, shield the child from vehicle intrusion, contain the head and body, and keep the head, neck, and spine aligned to limit injury.
Superior 360-Degree Protection Features The Frontier 85 features an advanced, industry-leading design for crash force management and absorption. The patented Versa-Tether system provides a staged-release tether webbing that securely anchors the top of the child seat to your vehicle at two points to minimize forward movement in the event of a sudden stop.
The energy-absorbing base is designed to absorb impact forces, while the foam lining provides additional support. In addition, the Harness Ultra Guard System (HUGS) reduces forward head movement and offers increased protection for your child.
The Frontier 85 is also compatible with the SecureGuard feature. The optional SecureGuard clip holds the lap portion of the safety belt in place, preventing submarining--when the child slides under the lap belt--and reducing the risk of any abdominal injury.
Adaptable to Your Growing Child The tangle-free, five-point harness allows for 10 harness-height positions--up to an industry-leading 20 inches in shoulder harness height--and three buckle positions for a snug, comfortable fit, even as your child grows. You can also adjust the head restraint with one hand using the quick-adjust lever and easily change the harness shoulder height without disassembling the entire harness. Plus, the convenient front harness adjuster allows you to loosen or tighten the harness system easily.
The booster seat can be used in the forward-facing harnessed position for children a minimum of two years old, weighing 25 to 85 pounds, the highest capacity in five-point harness systems. As a belt-positioning booster seat, the seat is suited for children from 40 to 120 pounds.
Easy-to-Install The Frontier 85 allows for quick, easy installation with lower LATCH connectors, compatible with most current vehicles. The premium, push-button system provides a tight, secure fit and makes it simple to install or remove the seat.Your child will appreciate the armrests that provide a natural place to rest his or her arms along with the dual cup holders designed to hold reusable water bottles or snack containers.
Soft, Durable Material with Comfort Foam The plush, premium cover set with underlying comfort foam makes for a comfortable ride, even during long car trips.
Made from soft, durable materials, the booster seat's cover is easy to remove from the shell for cleaning and is available in a selection of distinctive patterns, including Rushmore, Red Rock, Canyon, and Pink Sky.
This combination booster seat is backed by a limited one-year warranty.

Britax Frontier 85 Combination Booster Car Seat, Rushmore Reviews
This review is from: Britax Frontier 85 Combination Booster Car Seat, Rushmore (Baby Product)
Don't even blink at the price or anything else that really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of life. We were in a freeway rollover accident yesterday in our Honda Pilot that completely totalled the car. My precious 4 year old daughter was all strapped in tight in this carseat and walked away without even a scratch. As soon as I finish up this review, I am buying another one. Seriously, when you are in an accident like that, won't you be glad you put your munchkin in the safest seat possible, even if it can be a pain in the neck to install and annoying to get the cover off to clean? Also should note my 22 month old son was in an Evenflo Triumph (also gets high safety ratings). Thank God he was totally fine, but the strap that attaches the carseat to the anchor in the car literally ripped in half horizontally. It is a miracle that he is okay, because I shudder to think he could have been flopping around with only one anchor attached in addition to the over the seat tether...

I own several high weight harness seats, and this is my favorite! My son (5 yrs old, 47", and 43 lbs) has previously been in a Radian XT and a Graco Nautilus. He started to complain about the crotch strap being tight on both seats- I looked at it closer and it turns out the straps were coming out from underneath him even though they were on the furthest setting out- in both seats! We tried the Frontier 85 and he was much more comfortable- he has at least an inch or two until he'll be up against the crotch strap in the FN 85. I was worried about install, especially after reading about the original Frontier not installing well (or at all) in Toyotas. I had the FN 85 installed with the seatbelt in my '05 Highlander within 10 minutes, and that includes trying the short belt path first (I had to recline the seat and use the long belt path, but I have a rock solid install.) It really helps to watch the Britax install videos before trying to install it, as I could see how I would have... Read more

After doing the prerequisite research on all the car seats available, We decided on the Frontier. It seems to me that all the seats were decent, it boils down to a personal choice. We based our choice on features and safety. The seat appeals to me because of the height adjustment feature and its ability to grow with our child up until she only needs the booster alone. Our 3 year old had grown out of our Marathon but was not ready of course to be in a booster without at least a 3 point harness. I am, so far very pleased with the seat. The only complainst or comments I have are: The seat has a net like material on top of the microfiber on the seat..The netting gets caught on everything like velcro and snaps. It became ripped within the first week. I would rather have had the microfiber that is on the marathon (it does not appear that I can cut the netting out). Second, the seat is a little difficult to install. We went to the Fire Department as I had in the past and they had no... Read more
