Its patented three-position adjustable shoulder belt helps keeps the belt across your child in the correct and most comfortable position. The booster seat's design and five-star Ease of Use rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) ensures that the Pathway is easy to install and less likely to be misused. The Pathway is built with an adjustable headrest that eliminates uncomfortable gaps as you raise the headrest to accommodate your growing toddler. The Pathway's specially-designed headrest uses a contoured shape to help contain and control your child's head in the event of a car crash. Side-impact testing is standard for all of The First Years' seats. Each model is tested to Australian standards, the most stringent standards for side-impact testing.
One-Hand Foldable Seat Securely Anchors to Car
As with all of booster seats from The First Years, this model features a patented, one-hand folding design with a built-in carry handle to simplify storage and transportation. The Pathway's self-adjusting back quickly adapts to fit your car's back seat. With our two older children, we used the Graco booster seats with the back on them. While the price on them was right, the fabric was a bit scratchy and the backs came off the seat real easily when moving it around from vehicle to vehicle. We obtained The First Years Compass Pathway B570 booster seat and plopped it in the van for our 3rd child. When I first opened the box, I was a bit confused at all the adjustment points on the seat and how they worked. A quick glance in the manual and I was ready to place it in the minivan. It goes in like any booster seat. However, this model has the LATCH connectors as well which prevents the seat from flying around in the event of a car accident and there is no child in the seat. The booster seat has two snack cups that fit into the cup holders on each side of the seat. The cups come out with a half turn. We were limited to boosters with a narrow base. Although this cost three times more than our original purchase, we got what we paid for! Furthermore, it's worth our child's safety for years to come. This booster is so solid and high quality. It fits so well in all of our cars, especially with the adjustable belt path. We love the latch system, which First Years made so easy to use. You just push a button to open the hook and latch it into the chair. No more squeezing a hook with fingers into a seat! It's great not to worry about strapping in an empty seat after dropping off my child at school. It's a breeze to transfer the booster from one car to another. He LOVES this seat, especially the cupholders. He says it has a "great laying spot" so he can sleep. It is durable and sturdy so not the lighetest booster but not to heavy to move from car to car. Actually I like that it is heavier because it is more durable. All the other boosters we looked at were practically falling apart or so thin it didn't look like enough protection. The head wings are great, soft and comfy, and perfect size. The belt positioners keep the belt situated perfectly on him. So easy to use and understand. I love that it folds since we only have him part time. This company had a bad rep with their older model but they listened to the complaints and really changed it on this one. Very durable and sturdy. It doesn't change to a backless booster but I like it more because of this, no more fighting with the back of the seat. My ss can ride in this up to 100 lbs. |
